Using Temporal Logic in the Specification of Reactive and Interactive Systems

چکیده
Typically formal notations for interactive systems previously presented in the literature (e.g. [2, 6, 18]) synthesize two or more languages. We contend that it would be preferable if one were able to use a single soundly based specification language which is expressive enough to capture HCI issues. Taking a lead from Lamport’s Temporal Logic of Actions, (TLA), [14] we outline a language for expressing models of systems based on temporal logic, and make clear the design process we intend this language to be a part of. We discuss two equivalent specification styles using this language; firstly describing the functionality of the system and secondly describing the interactions of the system. We contend that the second is more ‘HCI-centric’ than the first. We discuss other issues raised by the use of the language and set down an agenda for future work.

A Declarative Language for Dynamic Multimedia Interaction Systems
Universal Timed Concurrent Constraint Programming (utcc) is a declarative model for concurrency tied to logic. It aims at specifying mobile reactive systems, i.e., systems that continuously interact with the environment and may change their communication structure. In this paper we argue for utcc as a declarative model for dynamic multimedia interaction systems. Firstly, we show that the notion...
متن کاملAn Interactive Fuzzy Satisfying Method Based on Particle Swarm Optimization for Multi-Objective Function in Reactive Power Market
Reactive power plays an important role in supporting real power transmission, maintaining system voltages within proper limits and overall system reliability. In this paper, the production cost of reactive power, cost of the system transmission loss, investment cost of capacitor banks and absolute value of total voltage deviation (TVD) are included into the objective function of the power flow ...
متن کاملSpecification and Animation of Reactive Systems
SOLVE (Specification using an Object-based, LOTOS-defined, Visual language) is designed to allow formal requirements capture, particularly for reactive systems. The SOLVE language is object-based, and formally defined using LOTOS (Language Of Temporal Ordering Specification). SOLVE is supported by tools that allow direct visual animation of systems specified in this language. Animation is suppo...
متن کاملA rule-based evaluation of ladder logic diagram and timed petri nets for programmable logic controllers
This paper describes an evaluation through a case study by measuring a rule-based approach, which proposed for ladder logic diagrams and Petri nets. In the beginning, programmable logic controllers were widely designed by ladder logic diagrams. When complexity and functionality of manufacturing systems increases, developing their software is becoming more difficult. Thus, Petri nets as a high l...
متن کاملTemporal Specification of Information Systems ⋆
Information systems are open, reactive, and often distributed systems that maintain persistent data. The Troll and omTroll languages aim at specifying information systems on a high level of abstraction, supported by tools integrated in the Tbench. The development is rooted in abstract data types, conceptual modeling, behavior modeling, specification of reactive systems, and concurrency theory. ...
